Faculty Travel/Research Award

Call for Applications: 2017


Deadline:  April 01, 2017

Purpose: To provide an award in support of faculty travel to present research at a professional conference.

Eligibility: Faculty members at any rank who are members of ATDS and have not previously been awarded an ATDS Faculty Travel grant are eligible to apply. Applicants do not have to be ATDS members to submit, but submissions from members are especially encouraged.*

Award Amount$400.00

The application should include:

  1. A 600-word proposal detailing your conference presentation, including an abstract of the paper, the invitation/notice of acceptance from the panel organizers, and a description of other funding sources (if applicable). Preference will be given to those presentations that best reflect ATDS’s mission to advance the study of American theatre and drama (broadly defined), its varied histories, traditions, literatures, and performances within its cultural contexts. ATDS also encourages the evolving debate exploring national identities and experiences through research, pedagogy, and practice.
  2. A 2-3 pp. bio with most pertinent information.

Awardee will be notified by April 30, 2017.

*Important Note: This year’s faculty research award is designated for supporting costs related to archival and ethnographic research. In 2017, the award will be designated to support faculty travel to academic conferences. Former winners of an ATDS Faculty Travel/Presentation Award may apply for a Travel/Research award.
